Forest School
Our Forest School programme offers children the opportunity to learn, explore and grow in our wonderful outdoor environment at Crossgates; it plays a key role in bringing our vision of 'growing together, learning forever' to life. Rooted in child-led learning, Forest School encourages curiosity, independence and a lifelong connection with nature.
Through child-led exploration and hands-on experiences, such as: den building, nature crafts, wildlife discovery and seasonal activities, our pupils develop confidence independence and a love of learning that extends far beyond the classroom.
Forest School strongly reflects our core values:
Community- Children work together, share ideas and support one another, developing a strong sense of belonging and teamwork.
Compassion- Pupils learn to care for each other and the natural world, fostering respect, empathy and environmental awareness.
Growth- Outdoor challenges help children to build resilience, take risks and develop new skills at their own pace.
Effort- Children are encouraged to persevere, problem-solve and take pride in their achievements, no matter how big or small.
Our Level 3 Forest School Lead, Mrs Dry, creates a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where all children can succeed. Sessions follow the rhytmn of the seasons, helping pupils to develop a deep connection with nature whilst experiencing the changing world around them.
