Crossgates Careers Fair -
The children at Crossgates apply for special roles. These include School Council, Best Buds, Junior PSCO, Digital Leaders, Stem Ambassadors, French Ambassadors, Happy Hero's and Book Monitors.
The careers Fair provides an opportunity to find out more about what the different opportunities entail from children already in that role.
By taking on responsibilities within the school, students learn about accountability, organisation, and problem-solving. They also gain a sense of accomplishment and self-worth when they successfully fulfill their duties.
Bikeright - Children in Year 5 at Crossgates have the opportunity to complete their level 1 and Level 2 Bikeability courses.
Bikeability LEVEL 1:
On this course children will learn how to:
- Prepare themselves for a journey
- Check the cycle is ready for a journey
- Set off, pedal, slow down and stop
- Pedal (including looking behind, cycling one handed, turning and controlling speed)
Bikeability LEVEL 2:
On this course children will learn how to:
- Cycle safely and responsibly
- Identify and respond to hazards
- Start and stop on-road journeys
- Maintain suitable riding positions
- Share the road with others and communicate with other road users
- Comply with signals, signs and road markings
- Manage risk when cycling
- Negotiate junctions (pass side roads, turn at T junctions, and crossroads and roundabouts if present).
